tcMenu Designer UI » OSX Catalina support?

Just migrated to a new mac and cannot get TCmenu designer to work. It gives a message saying that the file is corrupt. Tried both 1.4.2 and 1.4.1 Same in both cases.

I assume it's a 32/64bit issue?

Any ideas?

I'm now pretty stuck on my project

As far as I can tell, the archives should be OK, they are tested on Catalina before publishing (in fact they are built on Catalina on my developer mac book pro). However, I'll ask my tester to try it again now.

The big issue is that they are not Notarized and so very, very difficult to install on Catalina. Can you confirm what error you see?

Feel free to contact me using the contact form from the main site, to expedite things.

I am in the process of renewing an Apple developer license, and the good news is that once re-instantiated, there will be a Notarized UI soon after.

A native designer that will be in the App Store is just about finished development-wise and going into testing now, this will hopefully be listed on the app store (as per windows).

Thanks for the speedy reply.

The message I get is "“tcMenuDesigner.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin."

The tester is trying it now on a machine without Xcode and other mac developer tools, I'll feedback when we have some more info.

Confirmed on another Mac by our tester.

This is probably because of the new security measures in Catalina, the same source disk image works on the development machine where it was built. If you put that error into google there are ways around it temporarily, while we get the signed version out.

Our old developer ID with apple fell out of use many years ago, but we are in the process of reinstating it now, once this is done, a signed version will be forthcoming. There's a critical issue for this on the tcMenu github repo.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for getting back to me

Followed these instructions and the issues is resolved (for now)

https://blog.verslu.is/development/appnamis-damaged-and-cant-be-opened-you-should-move-it-to-the-bin/

Essentially cd to the applications folder in terminal and use the following command to remove the quarantine attribute from the file.

sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine tcMenuDesigner.app

Many thanks for sharing that solution, we'll aim to get a Notarized build out as soon as we can get the developer ID reinstated with Apple.

As of today, tcMenu Designer is in the Mac App Store.

I'd be glad to get any feedback on it. It's a native Cocoa app that's based on the same generator as the Windows store generator; which has been around for a while. Please raise any issues here.

We need help from all Mac users to give feedback on the store version. Please see the issue above for the details.

Please respond either here or in the issue. Thanks.
